About Me

Welcome to a new school year!!! This is my 21st year teaching in the Salt Lake City School District and my 2nd time at Mountain View Elementary. I graduated from BYU in 2000 and I began working for the district that fall teaching bilingual Kindergarten at Mountain View. I taught Kindergarten for 9 years (4 years teaching in the bilingual Spanish Kindergarten program, 4 years teaching full day Kindergarten and 1 year teaching a half-day Kindergarten at one school and ELP at another school.) I have been teaching 12 years as an ELP Teacher at Jackson, Washington, Mountain View and Escalante elementary schools.

I completed my Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Utah State University with an emphasis on Early Education and Gifted/Talented Education in 2004. I have endorsements in Early Childhood Education, Gifted/Talented Education, an ESL (English as a Second Language) and Bilingual Education. I love to teach the ELP students and watch them learn and grow year after year. I also work with the lower grades teaching advanced learners in discovery groups and I have been in charge of the student council for the past 6 years.

When I’m not teaching at Escalante and Mountain View, I am a mom of 4 children!  I have 2 girls ages 15 and 13 and 2 boys ages 10 and 8. Being a full-time ELP teacher and a full-time mom keeps me super busy, but I also love being outdoors in nature, hiking and playing with my children and visiting with friends. I LOVE music and love playing the piano, going to concerts-especially outdoor concerts in the summer and dancing! I try to get my children to dance a little bit everyday before heading out the door to go to school and work. Life is all about the journey! Work hard, play hard, make mistakes, learn from them and enjoy every moment that you can with the ones that you love!
