Principal's Message

 

Dear Families,

This is an important letter about a recent incident that occurred in front of our school.  After the dismissal bell, a student walked out onto Navajo and was struck by a car.  The child suffered some minor injuries; however, this could have been a lot worse.  Recently, there have been two Salt Lake City School District high school students hit by cars.  One of these accidents was fatal.  Please tell your children about street safety.  There are many cars around our school before and after school.  We need our students to use the designated crosswalks, even though it may be inconvenient.  We need for them to carefully check both ways prior to crossing at the crosswalk to ensure there is no oncoming traffic. 

We also recommend that more of you use the drop-off and pick-up zone on California Avenue.  Students can enter and exit the gates bordering California.  This will alleviate the number of vehicles parked in front of our school ate the beginning and end of the school day.

Esta carta importante trata un incidente recién que ocurrió delante de nuestra escuela. Después del timbre de salida, un estudiante entró la calle Navajo y fue chocado con un coche. El estudiante sufrió heridas leves; sin embargo, la situación podía haber sido mucho peor. Recientemente dos estudiantes de la secundaria del Distrito Escolar de Salt Lake City han sido impactados por coches. Uno de estos fue fatal. Por favor diga a su hijo que use el peatonal para cruzar la calle, aun que no sea conveniente. Deben mirar a la izquierda y derecha cuidadosamente antes de cruzar la calle para asegurar que no viene tráfico.  

Le recomendamos que más padres usen la zona de dejar y recoger estudiantes en California Avenue.  Los estudiantes pueden entrar y salir por los portones que están por California Avenue. Esto reducirá el número de vehículos estacionados delante de nuestra escuela al comienzo y fin del día escolar.
